Sure, just a week after I gave up on you and compiled it myself You rock. Thank you! I just dumped Ubuntu Dapper/Breezy for Debian sid in hopes of finally being able to install current software. Thanks to people like you, I’m getting my wish (so far). Package is working fine although there is a conflict with the MrTech Local Install extension. If a new window is opened (ANY window) and you close it either with the X in the corner, or using File -> Close, the whole program closes. Uncommenting the "set -x" in /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird gives the following output at the time of closing: CODE: + /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/run-mozilla.sh /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/mozilla-thunderbird-bin
DOUBLE-CLICK: 250 —> + moz_pis_startstop_scripts stop + MOZ_USER_DIR=.mozilla-thunderbird + MOZ_PIS_API=2 + MOZ_PIS_MOZBINDIR=/usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird + MOZ_PIS_SESSION_PID=5726 + MOZ_PIS_USER_DIR=.mozilla-thunderbird + export MOZ_PIS_API MOZ_PIS_MOZBINDIR MOZ_PIS_SESSION_PID MOZ_PIS_USER_DIR + case "${1}" in + for curr_pis in ’"${HOME}/${MOZ_USER_DIR}/init.d"/K*’ ’"${dist_bin}/init.d"/K*’ + ’[’ -x ’/home/eshornock/.mozilla-thunderbird/init.d/K*’ ’]’ + for curr_pis in ’"${HOME}/${MOZ_USER_DIR}/init.d"/K*’ ’"${dist_bin}/init.d"/K*’ + ’[’ -x ’/usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/init.d/K*’ ’]’ + exit 0 This does not happen with the standard moz.org build. Other than this conflict with Local Install, this pkg has been working wonderfully. If sending strace output or anything else might be helpful, please let me know. Ed, Thanks for the feedback …. can you please send me a link to the .xpi package you installed? Does the unexpected quit of thunderbird only happen if you are running tbird with MrTechs extension? – asacOne more thing … did this behaviour start with1.5 release or is it reproducable with the package currently in sid too (1.0.7-x)? – asacTo the best of my knowlege, this behaviour started with the 1.5 package. Once I get back from work tonight I’ll do some testing and I’ll let you know of the results. Both the 4.0 release and the dev build of Local Install make it abort which can be found at http://www.mrtech.com/extensions/local_install/ This is the only extension that I’ve found that’ll cause T-Bird to abort. Starting with a clean profile and installing just this one extension will give the result that I (tried) to describe. FWIW, I posted this here as opposed to the Debian BTS because technically this isn’t in Debian yet, so I hope I made the right decision in posting it here as opposed to my original "wishlist bug." OK, here a quick-fixed local install xpi: /debian/local_install_4.0_debian.xpi I sent the patch to Mr. Tech. So maybe you can use upstreams version with the next release. Have fun! – asacFor the sake of completeness, here the patch: In the few days that I’ve been using it I’ve only come across 3 minor bugs. 1) The throbber doesn’t seem to work. In cases (like mine) where the POP server one is downloading from is very very slow, it’s hard to tell if it’s still connecting, has connected or timed out. The other two are cosmetic. 2). No logo appears in "Help—>About Scott, Thanks for your feedback … Did you see the throbber issue in 1.0.7 too or is it a regression? And yes, the white-labelled thunderbird is far from perfect … anyway, I am still looking for a good "no-trademark" branding for tbird in debian and derivates. If you know a good one or an artist who would like to contribute, let me know! – asac its usable … locales are available … what’s left is only the package renaming/rebranding task … will get to it this weekend! ah thats nice.. then i will wait till it comes in unstable.. Thank you. these packages FTBS on amd64 : rm -f libmozjs.so Cheers, Just uploaded the renamed package (source package thunderbird) to my experimental archive … can you please give it a spin and try if your problem still persists? Bugs found: – help -> About shows no logo – view source windows don’t have an icon – preferences window doesn’t auto-resize to actually have enough space to show all of it’s options, and there’s no visible scrollbars. Plus, it can be resized to an arbitrary size irregardless of the sizes of the widgets I’m running on powerpc so I tried to build from source. I get the following error (I added a bit of context): Any ideas on what cond be wrong? make5: Entering directory `/home/edu/src/mozilla-thunderbird-1.5/build-dir/mozilla/security/nss/cmd/shlibsign/mangle’ I am currently uploading a new verison of the renamed package that includes a visibility=hidden patch … can you please try if that helps? Still the same problem … Is there a way not to build that library? I mean, with a ./configure option? ok it’s getting better, c++ Cheers, ok … that’s sane … will fix enigmail tonight. Thanks for your feedback Why does Debian bother with Extensions that are already offered on https://addons.mozilla.org? Any plans when 1.5 will make it to unstable? /PellePop Package is uploading, but needs ftpmaster action – which might take an undefined amount of time. Look here to track the package state: It’s in unstable now, thanks! Argh … what a stupid thing. I just forgot to upload it Sorry and thanks for the reminder. |
